The Ultimate Source To Book Printing Service

Thomas Goodlett asked:

Book printing requires the use of robust techniques in order to publish books that meet the standards of the present generation. Ideally, every household should have access to books anytime. There has been a noticeable increase in published books in recent years, thanks to new technology that enables en mass production. Before the book printer was introduced to mankind in the 19th century, book printing and publishing was at a really slow phase, limiting readership to the elite and mighty. Not any more. There’s no limit to how many books can be produced especially since the global population is growing at an alarming rate. Anyone can produce a book as long as it meets the set standards.

Some of the various book printing services are - Book Printing and Binding - Book Printing is the production of copies of a book loaded with the same content. Book binding is attaching together of the books pages in order to produce single document. The method used to bind a book depends on the strength of the final product. A strong binding material ensures that the papers stay intact longer, helping you to save on the cost of re-binding in the near future or buying a new copy altogether.

Spiral binding - For this type of binding, the publisher will use a spiral -like wire to join the book pages. This is one of the most commonly used methods of binding books nowadays. It also happens to be the cheapest. The book printing cost is much lower when it comes to spiral binding and will save a lot of money.

Booklet binding (saddle stitching) - It is a method that is generally applied to small booklets that has fewer pages. An example of this type of binding is the note books and diaries, whereby the binding is done with stitches using an appropriate thread such that the pages cannot pluck out quite easily.

Various types of hard cover book binding - It is recommended that a hard cover should be used to bind books. Hard covers will keep the inside of the book clean so it saves pages from getting plucked off more easily. Books require good maintenance otherwise they can easily get damaged. Therefore books should not be kept on moist shelves, as papers can easily absorb water damaging the books. There are also some other forms of binding like foil blocking and several other types of book finishing.

Book Review: Stolen Boy By Michael Mehas

book review
Simon Barrett asked:

Stolen Boy is billed as a work of fiction, however it actually explores a real event, and that event is still unfolding in the Southern California court system. Jessie James Hollywood faces the potential of the trip to lethal injection for his actions. So real is Michael Mehas’ book that he actually was subpoenaed twice as a witness in the trial, and forced to hand over his notes and tapes of interviews he had conducted.

With a background of Los Angeles, Stolen boy is about drugs, booze, fast cars, and young people. With that combination you will immediately think gangs. But gangs are not involved, the individuals are mostly from regular middle class, though, highly dysfunctional families.

Mickey Youngblood and Rick LeBlanc are young people that have set out on money making careers in the drug business, both have carved out lucrative existences, but a deal between them that went wrong has soured their relationship. So much so, that a $2000 outstanding debt, creates a verbal war, that in turn becomes a physical war of property damage, and threats towards families.

Mickey is to say the least a hot head, and when the windows of his house are smashed out in a late night raid, all rules of right and wrong exit through the empty frames. Revenge is a strong emotion and Mickey is hell bent on satisfying his hunger for it.

His first idea is to find Rick LeBlanc and have it out with him. $2000 after all is chump change in the drug world. In a sheer coincidence it is not Rick they see walking down the street, but his 15 year old younger brother Bobby. Once again though, Mickey lets his rage rule his brain, and persuades the kids with him to firstly beat the kid up “as a warning,” however second thoughts enter the sick and twisted mind, and instead they kidnap Bobby.

It is not the classic kidnap tale, in fact it is anything but classic. Bobby for the most part is free to leave at any time, but he prefers to ‘party’ with his captors, drugs and booze abound! Even stranger there is no attempt made to conceal the fact that Bobby is a hostage. In what has to have been the worst kept secret in the sieve that is the LA underbelly, the whole scheme starts to unravel as more and more people become involved.

Once again the demon Mickey makes poor choices, faced with the potential of exposure by Bobby he must now make a very hard decision. Does he believe Bobby when he says that there is no harm done, and that he will not talk to anyone about the kidnapping? Or is a different course of action needed?

This is a very powerful book, and one that deserves a spot on the coveted shelf space of your local bookstore. It has also cost author Michael Mehas a great deal to write this book, being so close to the factual case he finds himself in a ‘no win’ situation. The real Mickey faces the possibility of the death penalty. What Michael knows could spare him, or could seal his fate. In many ways, Michael has become Mickey, he holds the key to life or death. This is not a situation I would want to be in.

This is not your typical novel, even though the main characters are mere teenagers, they cover the entire gamut of today’s society, the good, the bad, and the very, very ugly!

Stolen Boy is available through Amazon, and Michael Mehas also has a very informative web site where you can learn more about this story that merges fact with fiction.

Book Review: Lifetime Loser By James Ross

Simon Barrett asked:

This is James Ross’ first exploration into the literary world, and he should pat himself on the back for producing a very well designed and executed story. I like my heroes heroic and my villains villainous, and Ross delivers.

Being a book reviewer, I maybe treat reading a little different from most people. I pick up a book, check the number of pages, the typeface, and font size. Lifetime Loser based on my reading criteria looked like a two, or at most 3 day adventure. How wrong I was, it took me over a week to read this book. The plot lines are intricate, and the character development intricately and cleverly handled. I knew I was in trouble when at the end of my first day of reading I had barely scratched the first 50 pages. I took some time out to think about this shocking statistic. It wasn’t that I had lost my touch at the art of reading, it was just that there was so much detail that was so well written, it took time to assemble and file the information.

OK, I suppose you want to know what the book is about?

Our hero is J. W. Schroeder (aka J Dub), we meet him as a young man who has a flair for the game of golf, his father having taught him all he can about this gentleman’s game. J Dub has a chance to make it to the big league, a player on the PGA. One momentary lapse of concentration wrenches defeat from the jaws of victory, and J Dub loses his opportunity. What next for this young man and his pregnant wife? A life giving golf lessons at the local driving range?

J Dub’s angel comes in the form of one Lewford E. Zerrmann. Lew is a ‘land man’ and has recently purchased a rather run down golf course, he needs someone with a knowledge of the game to run it for him. Better still, because Lew is such a nice guy he will offer a partnership, J Dub can have have 20% of the business, and a first option to buy should J Dub wish to become a sole owner.

15 years elapse, and about the only thing J Dub knows for sure is that his partner is no gentleman, he has no people skills, and seems to be hell bent of driving customers away. The golf course on the other hand is a popular spot, cash flow is great, yet their never seems to be any money left in the bank after expenses have been paid.

As the relationship becomes increasing strained J Dub is forced to start looking around, and talking to people. What he hears and sees does not make for a pretty picture. He must know make a decision, to walk away from 15 years of sweat equity or stay and fight?

This is a great book, it has murder, swindles, forgery, tax evasion, pretty much everything you could want in a great read. Lew has all of the social skills of Rattle Snake, while naive J Dub plods gently along at his own pace. In a David Vs. Goliath battle who will win?

I will not give the intricacies of the plot away, and neither will I spoil the ending, but I will whet your appetite with the fact that the ending will come as a big surprise.

You can pick up your copy from Amazon.

Alden Jerry asked:

Everybody likes to read fiction books because they are extremely interesting to read. These books are written using simple sentences and do not require much of an effort to understand them.

Books have always been the best pastime and this is evident in lots of books being sold. Fiction books are the ones which are sold the most among all other categories of books.

The stories in these books are of many types and belong to different categories. Therefore, some of the fiction books have horror stories, which have ghosts and other horrid creatures terrorising human beings. There are also comic stories which are capable of making the reader fall of his chair laughing uncontrollably. Then there are stories which have love as the central subject. Fiction books are therefore different in their approach.

Fantasy and fairy tales are some of the recent subjects, which have fiction books written about them. These stories have characters like elves and knights and many other fantastic creatures. One of the variation of fiction books based on this subject is books which have magic and wizards in them. The interest in these books is, therefore, visible as everybody likes to read these type of stories.

Some of the latest fiction books that are being published are extremely interesting. One of them is a book called ‘The Brass Verdict’. This book tells the story of a lawyer who finds the right case to launch his career towards success after a series of wrong choices. Written by the well-known writer Michael Connelly, this book features the famous detective ‘Harry Bosch’ and is perhaps one of the most interesting books written on the subject of law and crime. This is a book, which when read will be able to entertain the user.

Another interesting book which can be read is called the ‘Sea of Poppies’. This is a wonderful book to read and has been written by Amitav Ghosh, who is quite a well known writer. The story of this book is an interesting one, and is not boring at all. In fact, this book from start to finish, is one which is fantastic to read. Read childrens books.

These two examples form just a simple example of the wonderful books that are being written in the category of fiction. Fiction books, as shown by these two examples are written in a simple way. The language used in these books also have normally used words which are known to everybody. Hence, one does not need to have a dictionary beside him while reading one of these books.

Being simple is, therefore, one of the major feature of fiction books. They are popular for being easy to understand books to be read for relaxation. The basic aim of reading these books is to relax. Good fiction books are those which enable the readers to relax and have a good time.

Easy Ways to Online Book Marketing for Pleasure & Profit

Dave Robus asked:

st way to look at online book marketing is to think about creating relationships. This is an integral part of authoring books of any type and it is not really enough to be simply an expert writer.

Marketing of books is all about creating attention to them, to try and convince prospective readers to buy. Put simply, the basic truth about marketing a poorly written and edited book is that it can be embarrassing, causing returns and refund requests.

You would be advised to use a well written sales letter type of website for either your own ebook or as an affiliate book marketer.

Books, whether they might be Old Books or New Books of any type have the ability to make us happy, sadden us, heal us or create inspiration in our brains and they can transport us in our minds to new and intriguing places and other imaginary worlds.

Books and ebooks basically are “materials of experience and dreams,” and you never know whether you’ll be happy with a particular book until you’ve actually spent time reading it.

Only when you have invested a little of your time can you decide whether or not a book is for you and indeed whether to complete your travel to the very last page. This will always be so, no matter if the book you are reading is an old book, new book, fiction book, biography, educational book or indeed any other creative writing work.

Online book marketing works far easier and much better than traditional book marketing. For individuals that have the motivation, and driven ability to sell their book it can really work extremely well.

Regular Marketing of your book can help to increase its sales for a greatly extended periods, which is an established and well proven fact.

Which leaves just the remaining question.

Do you want to take the plunge and get your book produced & marketed in an innovative, cash generating way. so that you call attention to your book, and convince prospective readers to buy it?

It is definitely possible for you to make masses of recurring income from your book for many years to come by carrying out one or more of the following.

1) Build a web page to establish an online presence, making your book available via a website.

2) Try to place your book for viewing in bookshops, libraries, supermarkets, etc.

3) Generate other spin off products from your book, then market those products as well.

As an example, if you write a book about keep fit training you can obtain partnerships with a local gym or health centre.Or maybe an International Training equipment manufacturer, to whom you can offer an affiliate commission for marketing and selling your book.

In return you will obtain an affiliate commission whenever their product is sold through a link in your book.

You should try to obtain partnerships with associations, organizations and businesses that are relevant to the marketing of your book and try to get those partnerships well known in the public domain.

Every time you add new chapters to and restructure your book, re market it to the public using the same methods that you used in your original book marketing strategies. Even before you write a single chapter, try to visualise a picture of your prospective target audience, and you will enjoy much more success in the promotion of your book.

Remember always try to create and foster good relationships with your prospective joint partners and affilaites. Also have a policy of creating a good relationship with your prospective purchasers, so that they build up a trust in you, possibly becoming a customer for many of your future products for life.

American Theocracy, a Book Review

Posted: June 27th, 2009, by admin
book review
John Woolf asked:

In his two most recent books, American Dynasty and Wealth and Democracy, Kevin Phillips has perhaps rightly earned the prestigious moniker of America’s premier analyst and critic. Now, in his new release, a doom and gloom tome some 480 pages long, Kevin Phillips assails three overlapping, growing, forces that threaten to rain on the parade of the American way of life. Actually, American Theocracy : The Peril and Politics of Radical Religion, Oil, and Borrowed Money in the 21st Century, at $26.95 retail is still a great value because it is really three books in one, with just enough threads woven between the very different but often interrelated fabrics to help illustrate the upcoming perfect storm.

Kevin Phillips, as a former Republican strategist and observer for over 30 years, has a keen sense of the current political and economic landscape. When contrasted against his commanding historical perspectives, the author is aptly able in his book to show how past world powers, from the Roman to the British empires, have faced and failed the same critical circumstances the United States currently faces at the beginning of the 21st century. American Theocracy demonstrates that essentially every world dominating power is lured by the sirens of global over-reach and ultimately falls into the traps of resource depletion, runaway debt and the wars of militant religion.

In Part I of American Theocracy, Kevin Phillips looks at the ramifications of our preocupation of oil, past and present. The book maintains that American supremacy was derived by our exploitation and effective use of a newly useable form of energy on the world stage. While other nations were trapped in their inertias of coal, wind and water infrastructures, America quickly realized the versatility of this black gold and leveraged a nation around it. In fact, with only roughly five percent of the world’s population, Americans still consume over 25 percent of the world’s oil. But supply of this precious resource has always been a concern. American Theocracy points to World War II especially, which was waged by Japan and Germany to secure their hold on this vital fossil fuel for modern economies. The book takes care to explain that America itself has been heavily involved in its own petro-imperialism over the last century. Moreover, the life blood of our economy is becoming more difficult to find and extract even as the world economies are demanding more. One little know fact in all of this, as other Middle East supplies are being exhausted, is that Iraq is the last large pool of oil on the planet. And all of this still virtually untapped, near the surface. American Theocracy describes how Iraq has never been able to pump much of its oil, with U.N. sanctions in the 90’s, war with Iran in the 80’s and so forth. With the thinly disguised cloak of spreading democracy and fighting terror, it is of little surprise, given our history of petro-imperialism in the Middle East, and the fact that there is an estimated one trillion dollars in estimated profits for the (American) companies who will pump it, that we found ourselves with troops in Iraq.

Complicating matters further, Part II of this book explores the unprecedented rise in evangelical religion and its surging influence in American politics, especially under the presidency of George W. Bush. Kevin Phillips believes Republicans view the world in apocalyptic terms and endeavor to shape domestic and foreign policy around fundamentalist religion. This undue influence of faith over fact, and religion over (prudent) reason has resulted in inept policies, which only serve to weaken our respect, prestige and effectiveness in the world. This zealous underpinning has put us on a collision course with much of Islam, swelling the ranks, ironically, of terrorists, not to mention many other miscalculations, putting us in peril of a self-fulfilling prophecy. American Theocracy describes how we are endangering our future, as virtually every war is fought over resources or religious ideology. We seem to be running out of the former and have an over abundance of the latter.

In Part III, American Theocracy contends what is the traditional hallmark of an overextended world power: over consumption and massive public and private debt. Huge trade deficits, trillions of dollars in national debt and financial speculation, made worse by the influence of big business and Wall Street on Washington only serve to exacerbate the problem. The Republican Party, once the icon of sound fiscal policy, has discarded its ideals by mortgaging our country’s financial health and future to the whim of other countries in order to fund and maintain our status quo around the world.

American Theocracy : The Peril and Politics of Radical Religion, Oil, and Borrowed Money in the 21st Century is not without its critics. Many feel Kevin Phillips is biased and bigoted in his view as he tackles the concerns he has for the Christian right and their influence in America today. Others may feel he is not always accurate in his facts. But this is to be expected by stirring the pot and necessarily not always being politically correct. Having said that in view of the import of the thesis presented in no way detracts nor dismisses these vital problems all Americans face.

Saltwater Fishing Book Reviews

Daniel Eggertsen asked:

Whether you’re a beginning fisherman or an experienced angler, books can be a helpful resource for learning about new trends, tricks, and tips in the world of saltwater fishing.

However, not all books are created equal. As a result, it’s important to know what you’re buying before you actually purchase it. It’s especially helpful to read various reviews (from users and other outside sources) to help determine whether buying the book would be a worthwhile investment of your time.

Fortunately, there are many great saltwater fishing books on the market today. One of these is “Saltwater Fishing Made Easy,” by Martin Pollizotto. This book focuses on giving a broad overview for anglers who fish primarily in North America.

One of the great things about this book is that it is fairly comprehensive, meaning that it gives a brief synopsis of everything from fishing methods and techniques to tackle and bait. It addresses some of these different areas in even more detail. For example, it touches on a variety of methods and techniques commonly used by saltwater fishermen, including surf casting, fly fishing, jigging, trolling, and chumming.

The book also contains information about 75 popular game fish that are found in the waters off the coast of North America. Pollizotto describes not only basic facts about the individual species, but also their feeding habits, preferred environments, and the best techniques for catching them.

The book also includes information on basic equipment (including rods, reels, baits, and boats). Other helpful information included in the book are instructions for tying various kinds of fishing knots, proper techniques for cleaning, scaling, and filleting your catch, and helpful advice regarding issues of safety and law.

Overall, this book is a great addition to any angler’s library. However, it is important to know that the book is designed as a kind of “how to” reference for beginners. If you’re a more experienced fisherman, you will still find parts of the book helpful (such as the section that addresses the individual species), but overall, this book is certainly designed with novice fishermen in mind.

Another book you might want to consider checking out is “Saltwater Fishing Tactics: Learn from the Experts at Saltwater Magazine.” This book compiles the expert accounts and tips that are often featured in the Saltwater Magazine. As a result, the book is a comprehensive look at the ins and outs of fishing. It addresses everything from charter fishing trips to pier fishing to basic tactics.

Another advantage to this book is the abundance of cool pictures scattered throughout its pages. Also, the book covers a wide spectrum of levels by offering tips specifically for beginners but also including helpful techniques for more advanced fishermen.

The five highly recommended gambling book reviews are The Slot Machine Answer Book, by John Grochowski; Break the One-Armed Bandits, by Frank Scoblete; How to Win Millions Playing Slot Machines…or Lose Trying, by Frank Legato; Slot Smarts: Winning Strategies at the Slot Machines, by Claude Halcombe; and Secrets of Modern Slot Playing, by Larry Mak. All five authors are well-known and respected.

The Slot Machine Answer Book by John Grochowski is almost 170 easy-to-read pages long. If you have ever wondered what machines are most likely to pay off, if there is a way to gain an advantage over slot machines, or if playing video slots is better than playing reel slots, this book is for you. Overall, the reader reviews on it have been excellent, although some headier strategists may not be satisfied.

Break The One-Armed Bandits by Frank Scoblete. Every slots player should read this book. One of the all-time best selling gambling books, the insider information is no joke. In a sharp and entertaining way, Scoblete shares secrets that most gamblers only suspected were true. In addition, Scoblete shares his personal observations garnered from years of experience and success in the casino. He also explains the differences between pertinent machines, debunks slot superstitions, explains the role of the IRS, warns players how to spot slot scams and gimmicks, and teaches how to stretch out the House Edge.

How to Win Millions Playing Slot Machines…or Lose Trying by Frank Legato. Don’t confuse this as being a book by Frank Scoblete, for he just writes the foreword. The content of this book covers many topics, which include slot machine operations, myths and facts about slot machines and playing them, specific advice on which machines to play, how to maximize winnings by cutting down the House Edge, in depth strategies on money management and progressive jackpot betting, as well as how to spot scams, shady slot machine promotions and rigged machines. Find the best places to play slot machines in the U.S. and learn how to maximize your winnings!

Slot Smarts: Winning Strategies at the Slot Machines by Claude Halcombe. The contents of this book includes information about which casinos and slot machines are the best to play, using tools to distinguish between slot machines that look similar but deliver different chances of winning, and a series of what Halcombe calls “Work Plans.” Of all the top-selling slot machine strategy books on the market, this one probably is the most heady and complex.

Secrets of Modern Slot Playing by Larry Mak. Secrets of Modern Slots Playing dispels many slot machine myths, including notions of luck and betting streaks, in addition to the technical facts about slots. Always backed by empirical evidence, this book is one of the most practical resources for maximizing returns at the slot machines. The nectar of this book, however, is the section on playing strategies. Five strategies total are suggested, which include a betting guide for 1cent/2cent multi-line video slots, 5cent multi-line video slots, the spinning reel nickel slot machine, spinning reel quarter machine, and the spinning reel dollar slot.
